About East Central Alabama United Cerebral Palsy
What Is Cerebral Palsy?
- Cerebral Palsy is caused by damage to the developing brain, usually occurring before, during or shortly after birth.
- Brain damage can also occur during infancy due to infection or trauma.

- A person with cerebral palsy cannot fully control motor function (e.g., walking), and may also have an impairment of speech, balance, sight, hearing, or cognition.
- Cerebral Palsy is not a disease, and not considered curable, however, education, therapy, and applied technology can help individuals with cerebral palsy lead active, independent and productive lives.
